EvaNDER MAINA WINS NATIONAL eFOOTBALL QUALIFIERS

22 year old Evander “Viera” Maina has secured the slot to represent Kenya in Istanbul Turkey at the Global Esports Games set for December 13-18, 2022.

Viera got the better of 19 other competitors who turned up to battle it out for the chance to fly the Kenyan flag at the global games.

Viera topped his group standings winning three and drawing one match, before easing past Shantel (4-0) in the quarterfinals and dispatching Marlone (3-1) in the semis.

It is in the final where his real test came as he faced favorite Elias “Stylz” Onchari. Stylz, was in fine form, fresh from representing Kenya in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games last month.

After trailing 1-0 at the break, Viera came back to tie 1-1 before winning 4-2 on penalties. During the shootout, he also showed great composure after missing his first spot kick. He would later score the remaining four and save two of Stylz on penalties to emerge the winner.
