IndexG launches historic Kenya Universities Esports League

IndexG Esports has announced the launch of the historic Kenyan Universities’ Esports League (KUEL), marking the first formal entry of esports as a co-curricular activity in Kenyan universities. This inaugural league will unite undergraduate gamers from both public and private universities across Kenya.

Scheduled for November 12, 2023, the event will take place at Mount Kenya University and will feature five popular game titles: EA FC 24, Tekken 7, PUBG Mobile (PUBGM), Call of Duty Mobile (CODM), and NBA 2K23.

Earlier this year, IndexG partnered with MKU to launch a co-curricular esports program, positioning it as the first university in Eastern Africa to officially embrace esports as a recognized sport.

Ignacio Hennigs, COO of IndexG Esports, expressed his excitement about this milestone, stating, “The university is truly the melting pot of esports in our country. Many of our top gamers, particularly those who have made a mark on the international scene, are university students. This moment has been long overdue. It’s surprising that such a passionate community of gamers hasn’t had a dedicated competition until now. This is why IndexG has stepped in.”
